Why ePostRx is now open source? |
| |
The ePostRx project is now an open-source. If you
unfamiliar with what open is, we suggest you
check this
out. For those of you who understand the benefits of
open-source, what this means is:
- The ePostRx application is free for commercial and non-commercial use.
- The source code is available to anyone, to reuse as they see fit, under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). Decisions are made on public mailing lists, by consensus and forums.
- Individuals or companies may contribute code to the project; participation is open to anyone who wishes to participate. Those who wish to contribute must execute a Contributor Agreement.
- With the exception of content that explicitly specifies the license under which it is made available, the ePostRx software and other content is licensed under the General Public License, which complies with the Open Source Definition.
Why Open Source?
There are many 'canned' reasons why ANSHealth choose the open-source approach to further our ePostRx product, ranging from the practical to the religious. But our main reason is to make ePostRx the best 'free' enterprise pharmacy solution available, worldwide!
Will it work? The best way to test this answer is to get involved in the ePostRx community and discover the benefits for yourself.
